    Gas Piping

Converting your appliances to natural gas is one way you can add value and comfort to your home. Natural gas is also typically less expensive than electricity.

Carroll Mechanical Services (CMS) of Longmont has the knowledge and experience to run gas lines from your existing natural gas main-line to your new appliances. CMS uses only the safest gas piping materials in your home, and we do a full inspection after installation, to ensure there are no leaks.

The standard in the industry for years has been threaded iron pipe, there is now a cost effective alternative. A revolutionary product made of flexible stainless steel tubing has made it much easier to install and add to an existing gas pipe line. This product has removed the labor intensive cutting and threading required for iron pipe.

Natural gas also has the advantage of being available for water heaters, fireplaces, and stoves during power outages. House holds with natural gas appliances can wait-out lengthy power outages with heat and hot water.

Did you know that most barbeque grills are capable of running on either natural gas or propane? Imagine not having to have those tanks refilled all the time. Call Carroll Mechanical Services in Longmont for a free estimate.

    Gas Leaks

If you smell gas, first leave your house or office immediately and call your gas company’s emergency line and call the fire department from outside with your cell phone or a neighbor’s phone. Don’t flip any light switches or use the phone inside, as they can generate sparks that may ignite natural gas.

Once you are safe and have notified the authorities, call Carroll Mechanical Services, as we are equipped to repair any natural gas leaks in your home or office building.

We also provide exterior gas line installation and repair services for detached garages, shops and outbuildings.

A thermostat (in this context) is the component of an air conditioner, furnace, boiler etc which regulates the temperature of a house hold, office space, or building space so that the environment’s temperature is maintained to a desired setting.

Many older house holds and buildings in Longmont have manual thermostats that are quite inefficient. Manual thermostats maintain a constant temperature 24 hours a day, unless someone manually changes the temperature. This obviously can be quite annoying to maintain, and energy inefficient. Why heat or cool your house to the normal living temperature while you’re at work? Why keep your furnace running at optimum comfort temperatures in the winter while you’re cozy warm in bed, when you could be saving significant money by dropping the thermostat a few degrees? The easy solution is a programmable thermostat.

A programmable thermostat is a thermostat which is designed to adjust the room temperature according to a series of programmed settings that take effect at different times of the day. Programmable thermostats are great for heating or cooling your house back to the desired living temperature 30 minutes before you get out of bed, or 30 minutes before you get home from work.

Carroll Mechanical Services is experienced with installing all different makes and models of thermostats, and can make quality recommendations on the best solutions for your Longmont home or office.

    HVAC Inspections & Tuneups

Carroll Mechanical Services (CMS) certified technicians can provide you with a detailed inspection of your furnace, boiler, air conditioner, or other HVAC system.

CMS will come to your home or business and assess the integrity of your furnace, air conditioning unit, heating system, duct work, or water heater, and will thoroughly inspect all components to maximize efficiency and performance. CMS will also make recommendations on maintenance, repair, and replacement of any given part or system based on the results of our inspection.

    Comfort Control & Zoning

Comfort control zoning delivers a better method of temperature controlling your house or commercial space for various types of floor plans.

It can be challenging at best to keep every room in your Longmont home or office at a comfortable
temperature. As you know, cool air sinks into the lowest levels of the house, while heat rises, leaving the main floor colder and the upper floors hotter. Windows on the south side of the house absorb radiant sun making that room much warmer while shade cools the north facing parts of the house.

A comfort control zoning system combines the use of multiple thermostats and motorized dampers to divide your single heating and air conditioning system to control the flow of air to different floors, areas, or rooms in the house. The upstairs is now cool in the summer and basement is now warm in the winter automatically…

    Electronic Air Cleaners

Every air purification technology has its advantages and disadvantages. The value of an air purifier system really comes down to your requirements. How clean does your air need to be?

Throughout the seasons, our Longmont and Colorado front range air is full of allergens and air pollutants including canyon fires. The choices in air filter technology continue to evolve. For example, hepa air filtration sytems remove dust, pollens, mites, allergens, mold spores and several bacterias. However, they don’t remove airborne particles from a distance across the room, as all particles must be pulled through the filter. Hepa filters also don’t remove gas fumes and cigarette smoke. Hepa filters also don’t remove tiny particles such as viruses or germs. Micro-organisms trapped in the hepa filter can breed and reproduce, resulting in increased micro-organisms in your home or facility.

Ther are several other air purification systems that you may want to consider as an alternative to hepa filters, or to compliment them based on your individual house or environmental needs.

For example, ionizers magnetically attach small particles together, making them easier to filter through your hepa filter.

Another consideration is carbon air filters that are capable of eliminating gas fumes, chemicals, smoke particles, and other nasties that Hepa filters are incapable of filtering.

You may also want to consider Germicidal UV Lamps that can kill germs or viruses. This device can be used to augment the hepa filter short comings.

Carroll Mechanical Services of Longmont can work with you to help determine the air filtration system for your home or business that best meets your air filtration needs. Call CMS today for a free consultation!
